The BrosTrend AX900 Mini USB WiFi 6 Adapter is a compact and powerful solution for upgrading your wireless connection. It supports dual-band 5GHz and 2.4GHz, delivering fast and stable internet speeds, and it worked seamlessly with my Windows 11 laptop right out of the box.The setup is straightforward, and the small form factor makes it easy to plug in without blocking neighboring ports. I also appreciate that its Linux compatible for a variety of distributions, making it versatile for different systems.Overall, this is a reliable, easy-to-use Wi-Fi 6 adapter that boosts connectivity and performs well on both Windows and Linux systems. A solid choice if you want faster, more stable wireless internet.
I got the AX7L model for Linux Mint 21.3 with kernel 5.15.0-168-generic. I was updating a very old WIFI adapter that lasted 10 years. The new WIFI Adapter did not work right out of the box for me. I had to do a little searching on their website and found the Alternative commands section. Easy enough as it only took a few minutes of tinkering and updating. I used Terminal and entered the code. Watched it do its thing and voila! WIFI is running fast! Thank you for caring enough for Linux users.
As described, I can confirm 802.11ax (known asWi-Fi 6), and when I limited my router to WPA3 only it happily was able to connect. My first impressions were it comes across as well made and easy to get started, pretty much plug and play.I have a simple NAS (network attached storage) that runs off Debian Linux and I've been using my ethernet cable due to the internal Wi-Fi being kind of aging on the machine, but with this I am hoping to get rid of the cables. I thought I'd plug this into my Windows PC and see if it works, even though on the back of the box it states where to get the drivers, when I plugged it in it seemed to at first be a storage device, allowing you to install the driver then switched to just being a Wi-Fi dongle so can confirm it's not a 1 trick pony and can work with Windows if you're duel booting still..Wi-Fi 7 is currently the latest in wireless standards released in 2024, however comes with a hefty price and honestly Wi-Fi 8 is around the corner too so either this or double and then another double of that plus ensuring your router is able to do the same standards.Overall this is a quick and simple way to upgrade any PC or laptop's Wi-Fi.
It may be capable of various OS, but it's definitely not a plug and play type thing for all that OS functionalality. For windows 10,11 straightforward. But anything else, you need to install the driver with a command and some I'd say aren't mainline consumer easily done.A tech head, no problems. But I think this is a point to consider. It seems to imply "plug and play" but it isn't.I liked that it was a modern speed capable device, but it isn't running at its full capability (possibly needs some driver revisions and tuning).I've had faster pure speed adapters. This isn't terrible, but I have some WIFI 6 adapters that are multi OS capable and easier on the install.I don't mean to sound bashing the company. I truly believe it's in need of driver tweaks.I do like that it's small and isn't going to be a sore thumb sticking out of the computer. It's nice and small and has a good footprint. No drops at any time; that's important.
